Kelly has over twenty years in the meeting and travel industries and has been instrumental in growing teams for organizations while strategically managing global meeting and travel portfolios. Her tenure has allowed her to conduct senior-level account, meeting/travel procurement, and volunteer engagement activities for global corporate, non-profit and start-up organizations.
Kelly’s experience has afforded her with extensive knowledge in minimizing risks, solving problems, and retaining satisfied internal and external customers. Kelly has proven ‘big picture’ thinking with the ability to organize and
motivate teams with effective outcomes-driven through a unified
vision and strategic goal alignment.
Prior to starting as an independent contractor in 2019, Kelly held positions as the Firmwide Director, Meetings + Travel at Gensler, a global architect and design firm. She was based in the Washington, DC Office and responsible for an annual $5M budget. Prior, from September 2003 until March 2016, Kelly was the Director, Meeting, Travel & Volunteer Services at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). USP is a standard-setting organization for the generic pharmaceutical industry. She was based in the Rockville, MD Office and responsible for an annual $4M budget. Kelly held similar roles with other companies including; Great Events, Inc., a third-party event management company (2000-2003), Weichert Realtors, a real estate company (1998-2000), and NACAC, an educational non-profit association (1996-1998).
Laura is a dynamic marketing and meeting planning professional with a 20+ year track record in driving brand awareness and producing successful events across non-profit, corporate, and agency organizations. Her years of strategic planning, project management, and creative execution have enabled her to drive behavior change through marketing campaigns and event experiences without losing sight of company objectives. Prior to dedicating her career specifically to the event space, Laura spent over 13 years focused on brand marketing, advertising, and business development at Campbell Mithun Esty (1991-1994), Merchandise Mart Properties (1994-1997), Frankel Brand Environments (1997-2000) and United Airlines (2000-2004) where she led the internal communications team, agency partners, and sponsors in research, creative development, and campaign execution during the most challenging period in U.S. aviation history, September 11th, 2001. For the past three years, she has focused her meeting planning career in the non-profit sector consulting for Ronald McDonald Charities (2016) and focusing on both digital and face-to-face events for the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association and The Midwest Podiatry Conference (2018-2020).
